International Children's Day

International Children's Day is one of the oldest international holidays. The decision to celebrate it was taken in 1925 at the World Conference on Child Welfare, in Geneva. History keeps in silence, why the children's holiday was decided to be celebrated it on 1 June.

The International Children's Day has its flag. On the green background, which symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness and fertility, around the sign of the Earth there are posted the stylized figures - red, yellow, blue, white and black. These human figures symbolize the diversity and tolerance. The sign of the Earth, located in the center, is a symbol of our common home.

It is interesting that this feast was actively supported in countries that have chosen the socialist path of development. In the era of the Soviet Union the summer holidays in schools started on June 1. International Children's Day was marked with speeches and discussions on the rights and welfare of children, there were held screenings of new children's feature films and television programs, organized sports events for children with the often participation of the parents.
