ANNOUNCEMENT FROM FROM MUKTIDOOTH ON BEHALF OF ANERA, GAZA

Dear , Every donation we receivebetween now and December 31 will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $200,000. A five-year-old boy and his three-year-old sister both drowned in an open sewage basin in Khan Younis refugee camp here in Gaza last week. I am an engineer working for ANERA in Gaza and I know this tragedy could have been prevented. ANERA has helped communities in Khan Younis before, but unsafe sewage basins and sewage leaking onto the streets are a constant threat to the health and safety of families living there. Imagine a street with raw sewage leaking onto it. Beyond creating horrible smells, these leaks are a major health threat to the children who want to run and play freely throughout the neighborhood. Now imagine a clean street where children can play and parents have peace of mind that their children are safe. It is because of support from people like you that ANERA has been able to fix sewage systems and clean streets in several communities already, but the tragic deaths of two children last week make it clear that much more has to be done. As I learned from my mother, giving is the best gift we possess. I especially feel this way when my work gives a family in Gaza a safer neighborhood and helps them live with a little more dignity. What you give, makes my work possible. Please, be as generous as possible with your end-of-year gift. Sincerely, Abeer Akeel Engineer ANERA, Gaza
