BNP to stage demo Thursday





: The main opposition party BNP will stage demonstration countrywide on Thursday in protest the arrest warrant issued against Tarique Rahman, party senior vice chairman, and control the price hike of essentials.

The programme came from around two-hour joint meeting of the party began at 11:30am at its central office in Naya Paltan of the capital.

The opposition party is also protesting the abolition of caretaker government system and police attack on Zainal Abdin Farroque.

Recently, BNP launched its move to form anti-government movement platform by gathering allies to resist the next parliamentary elections under the Awami League-led coalition government.

Earlier on June 30 the parliament abolished the 15-year-old caretaker government system, allowing national elections under elected government.

As per the move party chief Khaled Zia had a sitting with Kader Siddiqui, the Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) president.

Meanwhile Mirza Fakhrul had met Col (retd) Oli Ahmad, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president, and Prof AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, the Bikalpa Dhara president for gathering allies to restore the CG system.
