The Board of Directors of Transparency International, the global organisation leading the fight against corruption, today welcomed the recent commitment by China's Premier Li Keqiang to combat corruption and stop those who consider themselves above the law.
Transparency International's Board stated that China's focus on anti-corruption, and in particular on those who act with impunity, comes as Transparency International increases its efforts to stop corrupt individuals who repeatedly get away with bribery, secrecy, and the abuse of power.
"No one should get away with it," Transparency International said. "Those who act with impunity in corruption need to know that these days are over. We welcome this commitment by the Chinese government and look forward to the concrete steps they plan to undertake. It is critical that a country as important as China uphold best international practices for preventing and prosecuting corruption both at home and abroad."
