Inviting Journalists Was A Mistake! Says Shahjahan Khan Abul Hossain, Shahjahan Khan Expel Journalists From Meeting

He shouts, "You must leave! It is a meeting for the national road security council. Only members are allowed. Now leave!"

They say, "We were invited."

He explains, "Our decision will be briefed to you after the meeting. Now leave!"

They say, "It is not a meeting on military procurement. Nothing is about to be secret in here. Why should it be hidden from the newsmen?"

He reasons (?), "It is not a political gathering. We would chose Paltan if it were a political gathering!"

They say, "Then why we were invited?"

He yells, "Perhaps it was our mistake! Now leave!"

Not the excerpts of a drama from Dhaka's Bailey Road theaters.

The heated exchange took place at the 20th general meeting of National Road Security Council at Railway Auditorium in Dhaka on Sunday.

A number of newsmen were present as invited at the spot before 10am Sunday to cover the event. The meeting, along with members of the council, was attended by water transport minister Shahjahan Khan, communication minister Abul Hossain, interior minister Shahara Khatun and state minister of interior Shamsul Haque Tuku.

The exchange you read at the top holding your breath was between the agitated newsmen and the mighty minister Shahjahan Khan.

The meeting was an hour late as the communication minister Abul Hossain reached minutes after 11am. Muscling out of the journalists of the hall took place moments before the meeting kicked off.

Eventually the meeting underwent without any newsmen inside the hall.
